Well thanks to Shawn and Jason pushing to get the bunker done the sand is in!!! They did get help from multiple others but they were the ones pushing to get done.
Today they finished the final sod work cleaned the bottom of the bunker from yesterday’s rain and added sand. They then double raked it and soaked it to try to get some of the air out so it won’t be so fluffy and get balls plugged in the bottom.
Tonight’s rain will be the test to see if any sand gets significantly washed since the reshaping has kept the sand pretty much in the flat area. Hopefully the water running down the steep bank will not wash to bare ground. That is what causes bunkers to become like concrete. (Constant washing of the base soil onto the sand.)
It will still be Ground Under Repair (GUR) for a few weeks until the sod has a chance to root and then we take the stakes out and the forms separating the new soil base and the sand. Until then take a free drop and play away!
