After 2.25 inches of rain we are raking bunkers. Two years ago we would be taking a week or more to pump bunkers. Today we are raking. I am very glad Jim has installed these for us.

Bunker drains still working!
Will the drain installations help with keeping the sand loose? I was in the bunker on the right of 14 green and the sand was very compacted. It appeared to be that way to a fair depth. Is more work needed to bring the bunkers to what I would refer to as a standard condition? Poor term probably, what’s “standard” eh. I guess a loose, soft sand condition. What do I know, huh?
#14 Greenside has had minimal new sand additions since it is on our list to renovate and most likely reduce it’s size. If you check https://markatwestchester.wordpress.com/2015-bunker-renovations/ you will see it was scheduled for this year. The 19 consecutive days of rain in June just killed our bunker renovation plans for this year. You have probably noticed the repairs on #11 green that have been underway for some time. I had two people plugging again today. That was a result of the rains in June.
Back to that bunker…it is doubtful that we will be able to renovate it this year, but what I will have the guys do is change out the normal rakes again and fluff it multiple times with the scairifier board. That should get you down a couple of inches until the next rain.
When will you be hitting into that bunker again? I can have it fluffed by Monday afternoon… MAN
