A couple of days ago we had low temperatures in the single digits. We had snow and everything was covered and had a hard freeze including our parking lots. Here is what last week and next week look like.
Check out todays rain Forecast at .81″ and tomorrow snow at <1″.
Now, this is not really that much except that everything is frozen including the drain lines. Which means we will have a layer of Ice on everything when it gets into the single digits Monday night. A layer of ice on roads when driving is very bad.
An extended period of ice on turf is very very bad. See, grass likes to do something like respire or like the rest of us breathe. So being covered with a layer of ice for an extended period of time (like 30-90 days) grass tends to get damaged (die). So what I am hoping for is slow melt where we don’t get flooding and the grass gets a chance to get a breath of fresh air.
I will keep an eye on the turf. (And you thought I took the winter off!)
So keep an eye on the weather, drive carefully, have a happy holiday season.
