7-24-17 Flooded Again…

Back nine is under water again.  Had a storm chase us off the course Friday morning.  It dropped 1.75″ on Friday.  The cart paths were covered but the river stayed in its banks.

Saturday Morning Storm Rolling In…

Saturday morning we had enough time to pull critical drain grates before we the storm rolled in to chase us away again.  Total rain 1.0″

Sunday morning we were able to get basic stuff done and then the rain came in during the Westchester Scramble chasing golfers off the back nine when the river came out of the banks.  That total was .8″

So after the last three days 3.55″ of rain left us with this today.

We did rake bunkers except for #8 fairway which we pumped.  The rest are drying out with a scairifying fluff.  Tomorrow we push dry material to the edges and rake again.

Hopefully we can get to the back nine in the morning.  The water hasn’t gone down much so far today.

We are cart path only playing the front twice if you so desire.

  1. Hey, you ever see this much rain such a short of time frame before. I have recollection of heavy rains in 1998/99 and again in 2003, but not with this degree of regularity. Trying to find a source that will give historical data on frequency of this type of torrential rains. It’s causing us problems here at the condos.

    • I don’t know where to look specifically. Our worst year was 2011. I think Columbus and Cinci set records for rainfall totals. I remember pumping bunkers every day just to let the golfers find their ball. We didn’t get them raked for weeks. My crew averaged 4.25 days per week and we were rained out 1-2 days per week. Lowest labor total in the club’s history.
